Thank you, Women of Vision!

This past Monday, at little past 8pm EST, the Senate passed the Water for the World Act. This bill will now go to the president’s desk for his signature. You made a law (again)!

The advocacy team in Federal Way and Washington D.C., as well as our coalition partners around the country, want to offer our sincere thanks to Women of Vision. You truly are some of our greatest advocates.

When this bill was introduced in August of 2013, you were ready! You wasted no time calling your senators and representatives, mobilizing your networks, and scheduling meetings with your members of Congress. This was not an easy fight. For nearly 18 months you worked endlessly so that women and girls– those most affected by being without water, sanitation, and hygiene– would not be forgotten amidst this tough political climate.

The Water for the World Act will put measures in place so that U.S. funding for water, sanitation, and hygiene programs goes to the countries and communities most in need over where the United States may have political interests. This bill will have significant impact on effectively bringing clean water to the more than 748 million people who are without.
