Usually who Americans think of as ‘strong women’ are women in the spotlight. You hear about them in the news and see them at press conferences. Their names become household names. Often forgotten is a group commonly portrayed as sweet, demure, flying or singing: nuns.
Nicholas D. Kristof lays out the amazing contribution nuns have made throughout history, from humbly serving food to the poor to marching through the jungle to confront members of Joseph Kony’s army after a raid at a Ugandan girls school. The article puts it best with a simple phrase, “nuns rock!”
