My favorite Christmas gift… hope for sexually exploited girlsOur “My Favorite Christmas Gift…” series continues as World Vision staff, partners and friends share stories around World Vision’s Gift Catalog.
Today we hear from Lora Williams, from the Women of Vision Austin, TX chapter.
My favorite gift for Christmas is the gift of Hope for sexually exploited girls. Anytime I can share, or give hope which gives life to the person receiving it, I jump on that opportunity.
The Christmas story is all about celebrating the birth of Christ who came to give life to all.
What we teach and model to our children in our home is the power of investing in the life of others. We invest in multiple ways – through words, mentoring, giving of time, money, and interceding through prayer. All of these things are investments that reap a great return, and that is life: a life restored, a life changed, a life transformed, and a life that will be a part of changing the lives of others.
And, we are not only ensuring that hope is restored in that young girls life. We are ensuring that she is educated, protected, empowered, and a new awareness of the love of Christ for her.
Every component of this gift is exactly what God used to ensure that my feet were planted, rooted, and grounded in His love. He made sure that my path would cross with a mentor, a human example of His love. In the midst of all that I had been through, my mentor was a tangible model of hope and life. Her investment in my life is still bearing fruit today.
The best return I have received on giving the gift of life is the hope and passion that increases in me, and causes me to continue to be God’s hands and feet.
Give the gift of hope today and help prevent abuse, and restore physical and spiritual health to rescued girls by providing things like safe shelter, medical care, nutritious food, vocational training, compassionate counseling, and when possible, reintegration with a loving family!Gift Catalog 2013
