Angela's report from Sierra Leone – day 1

Women of Vision’s Senior Advisor, Angela Mason is currently in Sierra Leone with ABC 7 News finding stories on World Vision sponsorship, maternal health and water. We’ll be sure to let you know when these stories are on TV!

The team arrived in Sierra Leone on Sunday evening. Yesterday they drove from Freetown, the capital and largest city in the Western Area to Bo, the second largest city which is located in the Southern Province. This five hour drive was bumpy and Angela called it “very exciting.” Stuffed in a Land Rover with luggage stacked on top of the car, they drove all afternoon into the twilight passing village after village. She loved watching the people, goats and sheep alongside the road and claims that this is “one of the poorest countries I’ve ever been to” (which, from Angela, who has travelled to over 75 countries, is quite a statement!)

A highlight during this drive was a quick stop they made at a store that sold British food (a treat for British Angela!) and she loved stocking up on cakes, chocolates and biscuits. We’re sure she’ll appreciate those treats as this team finds moving stories about the people of Sierra Leone and World Vision’s work. Stay tuned!
